How do I start my own business?

There are two very simple steps to register your own business in Harris Co. in the state of Texas.

This applies if you are planning to be the sole proprietorship on your new business endeavor.

Step one:

You will need to register the name that you are going to be doing business as, this is called DBA for (Doing Business As). You register for your new and unique DBA at the Harris Co. Clerk's Office.

Step two:

You will need to register with the Texas State Controller for your Tax Exempt Certification.  This certification will allow you to register with wholesalers and distributors as a tax exempt retailer as well as give you the right to collect taxes on behalf of the state.
